【物理性质】溶于1,2-二氯乙烷[1]、CH2Cl2和乙腈[1,2]。其它物理性质及化合物表征未见报道。

【制备和商品】该试剂一般在实验过程中原位制备和使用。在避光条件下，将甲基亚磺酰溴滴加入到三氟甲磺酸银在干燥的1,2-二氯乙烷的悬浮液中。然后，用针管将上层清液取出立即使用[1]。另一种原位制备该试剂的方法是在有4A分子筛的情况下，将甲基亚磺酰溴加入底物和三氟甲基磺酸银的混合物中[1]。

【注意事项】具有腐蚀性和刺激性，须在通风橱中操作和使用。


三氟甲磺酸甲基硫酯是一种从硫糖苷生成氧糖苷键的活化剂[1~4]。通过提供烃硫基离子，它可以用于硫糖苷的1,2-反式糖苷化（式1)[1]。在没有三氟甲磺酸银的时候，甲亚磺酰溴无法引发糖苷化反应[1]。

用三氟甲磺酸甲基硫酯可以有效地制备O-糖基化氨基酸（式2)[3]，该产物是用来合成糖肽的重要前体[3,4]。由于它具有较高的反应活性，因此反应在低温下进行可以有效地抑制副反应的发生。使用类似的方法，也可以高产率地合成四糖[5]。

三氟甲磺酸甲基硫酯还可以用于活化环化反应，合成用于(+)-mannostatin A全合成的关键中间体（式3)[6]。
